We channelled the essence of New York city with a little suspense, a bit of nostalgia and a whole lot of glamour...

Vintage style wayfarers, that Al Capone vibe and of course some black lace... New York city here we come!!

The lovely Lize-mari & Werner spent a our "New York" afternoon with us at the majestic Castello Di Monte in Pretoria.... an amazing afternoon and an amazing shoot!

Oh, how much do I love fairy tales and a little bit of playfulness! Its just brightens up any day and makes the child in all of us come out to play. We couldn’t resist having a bit of fun with these gorgeous bunnies and creating a Rabbit’s tale… a story of whimsy, love and life, of laughter echoing through the forest doors. Our little tale of enchanted forest love… reminds me of lazy afternoons and soft soft kisses mixed with some light pink and dreamy marshmallows… yip, I know it sounds crazy… but so true!!

There are very few things as exciting as posting some photos that you are just in love with... Soft, ethereal, dreamy... And not to mention that we were in the most amazing greenhouse...

The lemon bushes overflowed
with the patter of mole paws,
the scythe shined
in its rosary of cautious water drops.

A dot, a ladybug,
ignited above the quince berries
as the snort of a rearing pony broke through,
bored with his rub-down—then the dream took over.

Kidnapped, and weightless, I was drenched
with you, your outline
was my hidden breath, your face
merged with my face, and the dark

idea of God descended
upon the living few, amid heavenly
sounds, amid childish drums,
amid suspended globes of lightning

upon me, upon you, and over the lemons…

{Love} Smitten... part 1

A lot of planning and dreaming went into Werner and Lize-mari’s {love} shoot and we are very proud to present some of the first photos of those two exciting afternoons. This part was all done at Rosemary Hill situated just outside Pretoria and the whole shoot was built around romance, beauty, love and that little bit of whimsy we all carry with us!

Smitten is the story of two woodlands creatures torn between the joys of love and longing. We took inspiration from Midsummer Night’s Dream with all its ethereal beauty, added the beautiful Rosemary Hill and then of course a pinch of true {dust and dreams PHOTOGRAPHY} soul and together with the gorgeous Lize-mari and Werner it was easy to make magic!

To photograph an old friend is such a privilege and so exciting… but there is also a lot of pressure to capture the beautiful person just as you know her and to try and portray a bit of her soul in the photos.

For Gizela we only needed an oversized men’s shirt, some lippy and of course a great mane of ruffled hair.
All these photos were taken in a very quick fifteen minute session just after 6 am one morning and she was a real rock star for being up for it so early!
